Brainwave Controllers

SH found these whilst having an amble through the recesses of the internet the other day.

I reckon they could step beyond Kinect and Wii by making the brain the controller rather than the body.

More importantly they are also being developed so that paralysed patients are able to control sensors, computers and the like without having to commit to complex surgery inside the skull.

Now there is a realistic possibility of the technology becoming more commonplace allowing people with reduced mobility and those with muscular conditions to improve their quality of life.

A robot that can fly like a bird

Is this the beginning will razorbeak be here soon?

TED State "Plenty of robots can fly -- but none can fly like a real bird. That is, until Markus Fischer and his team at Festo built SmartBird, a large, lightweight robot, modeled on a seagull, that flies by flapping its wings."

Amazing Robotic Hand

This is really quite scary as science moves forward and furthers itself all I can truly think about is a Mr Dyson and SkyNet. Check out this video but for me it gets a bit creepy around 2.40, generally its the precision and speed of the thing. Fantastic yet dark science, yet worryingly familiar and similar to a certain film. If we witness "The Rise of the Machines" I called it.

Musical Structures and Animusic

For quite a while now I have been wanting to build musical instruments, but not your standard instruments. I took great inspiration from the following clips (there are many more but these are my favourites). Obviously not wanting to copy these ideas but the concept of a musical instrument actually being able to play its self seemed unimaginable, impossible... so i have to try it at some point!!!

Me an Matthew Merrick have talked about collaborating on this in passing, but its more of an issue of time and money so nothing has currently come to fruition. But seems some body else has beaten my to a similar idea.

These are magnificent structures built to play music. They are amazing in the way they look and i am sure in the way they sound (unfortunately all videos have been made private so i can not say for certain)

Eythor Bender's human exoskeletons

The up shot of this remarkable video is that someone who lost the ability to walk regained that ability through technology. In much the same way as many other products the exoskeletons are trying to get military funding which will ultimately fund more research into benefiting everyone.

Whilst not a new idea this does actually look feasible.

Enjoy

"Limitless" Today : "Transformers 3" New Trailer

Two trailers for you today. We posted about limitless back in December this film has the potential to be great, and well you know our feeling on Transfomers 3 just being wicked, this trailer really is a lot of what we’ve seen before with maybe one new scene probably not as good a trailer as the super bowl spot, but none the less still something to look forward too. Limitless is out today, 23rd of March [or is already came out on the 8th in the USA], whilst Transfomers 3 is set to be released on the 1st of July for both the UK and USA. Just cant wait to see these two.

Film of the Week : The Fifth Element

Sorry about last weeks Film of the Week life got a touch too busy just around the point of writing, and so at some point perhaps this week we shall try to bring you an extra one to make up for last week.

1997 saw the release of one of our eras best sci-fi films and the union of some fantastic actors too boot. Featuring performances from Bruce Willis [last seen in our Film of the Week : Die Hard], Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman, Chris Tucker and Ian Holm [last seen in our Film of the Week : From Hell], The Fifth Element tells a tale of a cab driver in a dystopic future earth, who meets a girl. Really after that the story is of its own, fantastic in our opinion but you'd really need to see it for your self. This really is not an explanation of the film but rather a teaser. A notable reference artistically [concept art that is] is Moebius, or Luc Besson.

This film really, for it's genre is in a class of its own, endlessly entertaining, light hearted and stylish, Enjoy!

Transformers : The Dark of The Moon Trailer 2

The Dark of The Moon Trailer 2 isn’t exactly correct as to what this video actually as it is a Super Bowl spot from the gents across the pond. However whilst not necessarily trailer 2 it does make ground on trailer 1. This video contains mostly new footage and some wicked looking visuals. Catch trailer 1 after the jump.

Animatronic Iron Man Costume

Recently there was a post on SalubriousHUB abut making your own Predator costume. However in researching that particular post this guy was found, sorry about all the music on the videos he really dig's it not really sure if it fits?

Whilst he maybe really dig Iorn Man, perhaps a little too much, this guy has tried extremely hard on this costume. Too see the full painted suit or his next fantastic contraption, WAR MACHINE!!! By the way the last video after the jump could be construed as comedy brilliance, if you leave the sound on for any of these make it the last one.
