Make your own comic strips

Here are a couple of sites where you can go to make your own animations. We have been playing around with them for days at SH. They require next to no prior knowledge of this sort of stuff. They work quite simply on a drag and drop system allowing novices and experts alike to create what they want.

Brainwave Controllers

SH found these whilst having an amble through the recesses of the internet the other day.

I reckon they could step beyond Kinect and Wii by making the brain the controller rather than the body.

More importantly they are also being developed so that paralysed patients are able to control sensors, computers and the like without having to commit to complex surgery inside the skull.

Now there is a realistic possibility of the technology becoming more commonplace allowing people with reduced mobility and those with muscular conditions to improve their quality of life.

Film of the Week : The 6th Day

2000, what a year, and this is why. How many flims have had the same concept as this now, not one but two of our beloved Arnold Schwarzenegger. Can Arnie [Adam Gibson] stop maniacal clones taking over the world, I think we all know the answer. But it is great fun watching how he does stop them, you guessed it, diplomacy. Enjoy the trailer especially the very last quote of it, oh the declarative nature of things.

The Gerber Steady : As Advertised by Bear

The Gerber Steady its a tripod with a knife attached, or a knife with a tripod attached, or a ....

Either way despite the practicality and terrifying advertising in the form of Bear Grylls, check out the Gerber site. Frankly I'm amazed they have a "Essential" knives section.

Good idea it may work out, but I'm still scared by the fact someone joined these two items.

Da Feng's Flake

Now we are getting somewhere. Whilst this is essentially impossible it and the BMW GINA are a step in the right direction. Beautiful modular vehicles, my passion for this, TRON has a lot to answer for. Da Feng congratulations sir, a fantastic concept. Whilst the video render is not as good as the concept art, lovely idea, Enjoy.

Nikon & Canon Chess set

This is really a missus of what Nikon Canon intended. But this little advertising stunt by LensRentals is just brilliant probably not the most expensive chess set you could buy but its defiantly up there.

LensRentals stated at the end of their article, "well we figured we might as well plug it in to our rental model and price it: You can rent the Lensrentals Chess set for just $9,221.00 per week."

Dylan Cole Studio

Dylan Cole Studio website states "Dylan Cole is an art director, concept artist, and matte painter who specializes in film, video games, and commercials. The southern Caliornia native always had a love for drawing. Inital interest in comic book art gave way to matte painting and concept design after he saw the Art of Star Wars books. Dylan attended UCLA as a fine art major where he continued to draw and paint traditionally."

"A summer internship at ILM opened his eyes to the digital world that he had been avoiding. Within a year and a half of graduating from UCLA, Dylan was off to New Zealand to be a senior matte painter for Return of the King. Cardboard Bike Helmet

This helmet can allegedly take 4 times as much punishment as its plastic counterpart.
It was designed by Anirudha Surabhi and has also apparently survived five repeated tests and still passed the British Standard (EN 1078) test.

This post is just a quick topical "glad you are OK" to Aran Prior of SH. I found this and thought of you buddy.

Cheap Car Modifications

I was looking for a follow up post to my Hummer post of a few weeks ago and I admit I failed to find anything that I could honestly one up those beasts with.

Therefore I present to you a one downing. There is more chance of winning the Gadget show prize than getting these monsters insured I feel.
