Film of the Week : The Thing

1982 saw one of the best sci-fi film remakes of all time John Carpenters "The Thing", staring Kurt Russell, Keith David and Wilford Brimly.

Featuring the brilliant special effects work of the late Stan Winston, and some amazing matte paintings from his studio. This film was a chilling and beautiful look into the creators minds. A story of mistrust and inquisition in Antarctica. Without films like this we would not have been able to experience things like the modern day cult remake classic Battlestar Gallactica. A fantastic piece of cinema and a Genre classic, Enjoy!

"How to Build a Nuclear Submarine" is as close as we can get to Battlestar Galactica in 2011

"How to Build a Nuclear Submarine" is as close as we can get to Battlestar Galactica in 2011 last shown on the BBC One on the 2nd Aug 2010. This program is brilliantly informative and take you into the bowels of submarine design and construction. The program delves into the construction of the Astute class of submarines commissioned by the English Navy.

The documentary style of the program and the technology within it, also just the look of the sub, remind me of my favourite television program of the last few years, Battlestar Galactica. This is only made better by the fact that real life English people just are not as good as, Apollo and Baltar, they even have their own Admiral Adama, except just brilliantly British. A fantastic program all in all however I probably enjoy it for the wrong reasons on top of the intend information based entertainment. The first instalment of the program is below for the rest of the program, some more information about it

and some more photos catch the jump after the video, Enjoy!
