Eastwest Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra : EWQLSO Gold - And Snow Leopard Installation Issue Work Around

Recently I have been composing music for moving picture - mainly orchestral music - and in the past month I have updated my orchestral sample library to the Eastwest Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold Edition, which uses the Eastwest Play engine.

The quality of the samples is fantastic and well worth the upgrade if you have the money.

Here is a small example of some the samples avaliable:

There are several options for purchasing EWQLSO, I went for the Gold Edition but there are other versions for different prices with slightly different content. Prices are from www.dv247.com.

Silver - This comes with the essential articulations, one mic position and 16 bit samples - £129

Gold - All articulations, one mic position and 16 bit samples - £329

Platinum - All articulations, three mic positions and 24 bit samples - £599

Platinum Plus - All articulations, three mic positions and 16 and 24 bit samples - £649

You will also need to have an Ilok plugged in to use it, these are available from music shops at around £30 - £40.

Also, a few days ago I updated my operating system from Leopard to Snow Leopard and had to reinstall everything including EWQLSO, there is a fairly major issue when running the install disk as it wont finish the installation due to not being 100% compatible with Snow Leopard.

WORK AROUND: there is a bit of a faffy work around - there is a new update avaliable from http://www.soundsonline.com/support/ this will install the Play engine version 2. Then you have to insert each disk and just drag and drop the files over in to the correct file structure.

Then the folders inside here will be 'Gold instruments', 'Gold Samples' and 'Silver Samples' - from the disk.

Hope this helps some people :-) Please comment if it works or if you still have problems
